Requirements for stacking goods on wooden pallets
With the strengthening of social environmental protection views, and increasing calls to prevent soil and water loss, desertification, and sandstorms, in order to protect the Earth's environment on which people depend for their livelihoods, the Chinese authorities have explicitly prohibited deforestation. Further efforts will be made to increase afforestation and improve China's forest coverage. Additionally, wooden pallets must undergo steaming or high-temperature treatment; otherwise, they will be refused entry into foreign countries. This has brought significant challenges to the development of wooden pallets, but conversely, it has provided excellent opportunities for the development of plastic pallets.
After 1995, pallets made of other materials appeared, such as wooden pallets, metal pallets, plastic pallets, and even pulp molded pallets. Later, filled plastic pallets also emerged. Compared with traditional wooden pallets, plastic pallets are lighter, water-resistant, moisture-proof, clean, have high hardness, and are highly recyclable. Plastic pallets have many advantages in use, but they have faced difficulties due to various factors, including cost.
According to the type of goods, the weight of the goods carried by the pallet, and the size of the pallet, the pallet manufacturer will reasonably determine the stacking method of the goods on the pallet. The utilization rate of the bearing surface area of the pallet should generally not be less than 80%. The stacking method of goods on wooden pallets has the following requirements:
1. Paper or fiber goods should be stacked in single or multiple layers in an interleaved manner and sealed with strapping;
2. Sealed metal containers and other cylindrical goods should be stacked in single or multiple layers and secured with a wooden lid;
3. Wooden, paper, and metal containers and other hard rectangular goods should be stacked in single or multiple layers in an interleaved manner and stretch-wrapped or shrink-wrapped;
4. Paper products and textiles requiring moisture-proof and waterproof protection should be stacked in single or multiple layers in an interleaved manner and stretch-wrapped or shrink-wrapped, or reinforced with corner supports, cargo covers, and partitions.
